# About Wagyu
## What is the Wagyu organization?
Wagyu is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) which was officially launched by a community of Beefy.Finance maximalists on September 20, 2021. Wagyu is the first ever **"sub-DAO"** (put in glossary) and was created specifically to serve the [Beefy.Finance](http://beefy.finance) DAO via the creation of DeFi's first [Interest Bearing Token](https://documentation.wagyu.studio/glossary) and (**maybe we save IBT's for later - do not want to give away all the secret sauce)**
Wagyu has three goals: **(1)** engineer vaults to enable the minting of IBTs in the mooBarn, **(2)** to build tools which increase the understanding and value of Beefy.Finance's token (**BIFI**) across all chains, and **(3)** to act as third-party historians to capture the history and stories of the Beefy.Finance DAO as they unfold via the releasing of our Thunder Milk APY-boosting NFTs.
